It takes about 2 hours  passing by oilpalm plantation track and rural areas and A bit bumpy drive but great fun!

ITINERARY 

,- a day tour visit the elephant sanctuary in tangkahan, joining mahout and ranger for washing and feeding elephant. departure at 06.00am with breakfast box - Off road with local jeep transfer to tangkahan, its a one day trip tours bukit lawang – tangkahan – bukit lawang. takes abouts 2 hours passing by palm oil plantation track and rural areas, a bit bumpy drive but its great fun!!, After two hours drive, you will arriving at Tangakahan, and the Elephant activity start at 09.00am, in the begining activity mahout of elephant will bring a elephant down to the batang river, and you will following the elephant. And than the guide will explaining you about sumatran elephant, and your ready to getting wet, bathing and washing elephant in the river, they also will spary you with the water, you can also feeding them, playing with small baby of elephant around the mum. After elephant just relaxing or walking arround in the tangkahan area, Than your turn back to bukit lawang and free at leisure.
